From Paul Obiajunwo, Port Harcourt
The lawmaker representing Emohua constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA), Hon. Chidi Lloyd, has maintained that the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state was as a result of intense rigging by the PDP.
Lloyd, the Leader of the State Assembly who also is a candidate for the State Assembly election on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) alleged that PDP chieftains in the state used all the Federal Government agencies to rig the keenly contested election in the state.
Speaking on Friday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital while reacting on the general outcome of the election in the state, he also said that the security and the INEC officials did not provide an equal playing field for all the parties who took part in the election in the state, adding that the PDP was favoured which gave them the liberty for daylight robbery.
He said APC did its homework thoroughly through campaigns and was able to be having the majority of people on its side, but regretted that the people were not allowed to express their will at the poll.
He stated: “That result of the election does not reflect the will of the people. All the electoral principles laid down by the INEC were totally breached by the PDP. I want Rivers people to protest against the result, which does not show their will.
“The Officials of INEC gave PDP the opportunity to rig the election. The PDP before the election exchanged the original result sheet. They brought fake result sheet to the units.
“Even ballot papers were exchanged. Most of the ballot papers used for the state elections were some of the left over from the Presidential and National Assembly Elections,” he added.
