Harry Dean Stanton has died. The actor passed away of natural causes at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles on Friday (Setpember 15). He was 91.
Stanton’s scruffy looks and off-beat demeanor made him a favorite of directors who often sought him out to add eccentricity or melancholy to the screen.
Over his lengthy career – which spanned 60 years – he appeared in some 70 movies, including “Repo Man,” “Paris, Texas,” and “Alien.”
Stanton never married but once told an interviewer he had “one, maybe two” sons.
His final on-screen role can be seen in the upcoming film “Lucky,” due out in the U.S. on September 29.
