By Paul Obiajunwo, Port Harcourt

Professor Rosemund Green-Osahogulu, Vice Chancellor  of  Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Port Harcourt, was able to avert a crisis that would have consumed the school as the Niger Delta Students Union Government besieged the school in an apparent  move to fight for their colleagues based on the tipoff that they were unduly oppressed by the school authority.

Comrade Tonbara Yalah,  Present of Niger Delta Student Union Government (NIDSUG) who led NIDSUG executives to the campus told the Vice Chancellor that they came to the campus to understand the polices and administration of the school especially as it concerns the students.

The President however accused the school of not being sensitive the plights of students by increasing tuition fees and lack of show of concern for their welfare.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Rosemund  Green-Osahogulu responded by denouncing the allegations “it is a big lie, as far as I am concern, I don’t know  the executive of student union in this campus, thank God the SUG President of this campus is here, you can ask him. The first time I met him was the day of their inauguration” he said.

He argued that students of the school were not burdened by unreasonable charges “On the area of increment of school fees, our school fees as University is the cheapest compared to what is obtainable in other schools. We don’t charge faculty fees, departmental fees and the rest of them but others do”.

After a brief rundown of what her administration was able to achieve which is for the progress of the school and the students, he succeeded in calming down the tension among the riot-ready students.

Acknowledging Prof. Rosemund achievements, the   NIDSUG President with other students apologized for the false information and promised to support the management of the school to achieve its goal.
