USAID, Sokoto Sign Mou To Support Primary Education

The United States International Development (USAID), on Monday said it is continuing support to the education sector in Sokoto state with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between both parties.
The five-year MoU, according to a statement by the U.S. Mission in Nigeria, supports the Sokoto state government’s goals and targets in its education sector strategic plans.
It equally establishes a preliminary plan for joint monitoring and evaluation of progress, providing a framework for mutual accountability for education activities in the state‎.
‎The document also sets out the shared and individual commitments for collaboration in the education sector made by both USAID and the Sokoto State Government.
While USAID was represented at the ceremony by its Mission Director Michael T. Harvey, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, signed for the state‎.
Speaking on the MoU, Harvey‎ commended the Governor Tambuwal administration “for its extraordinary efforts to provide greater learning opportunities for its children. This MOU will expand the partnership between USAID and Sokoto State to improve primary education in Sokoto.”
