Two persons were killed Monday night and a Toyota Camry belonging to one Dr. Chukwuma Nwaiwu was stolen at gunpoint along Ada-George Road Rumueme in Rivers State.
The Landlords Chairman of Rumueme community, Mr. Sabastine Onuhia, said on Tuesday that the robbers had taken over Ada-George area of Rumueme community.
He said residents of the area were being robbed on daily basis and that the community had repeatedly reported to Police especially at the Ada-George Police station but that all effort to stop the robbers proved abortive.
Mr. Onuhia said: “We are calling on the Commissioner of Police to rescue us from the hand of robbers. It has became a daily activity at this part of Port Harcourt, yesterday two persons was shot death during one of their raids in the area.
“We are no longer safe, for now the Police have done nothing concerning our security situation, the residents are presently living in anxiety. We are using this opportunity to call on the Commissioner of Police to do something fast on the security challenges of the area.
Dr. Kelechukwu Nwaiwu whose car was robbed said: “I have reported to the Police that my Camry car with ash colour was stolen yesterday night immediately I drove in to my compound. Though I didn’t see anybody or vehicle following me when I entered my street.
“As soon as I came down from the vehicle to close the gate the next thing I saw was a tall man who led three other robbers. He immediately ordered me to give him my car key and they drove the car off after robbing my entire family,” he said.
