Paul Obiajunwo, Port Harcourt
The governor of Rivers State, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has promised his supporters that in spite of the tribunal judgment he will complete his four year tenure as the governor of the state.
Wike disclosed this yesterday at a thanksgiving service held at Obi Wali International Convention Centre, Port Harcourt where the leadership and supporters of Peoples Democratic (PDP) gathered to honour God over the Tribunal Judgment that that was delivered at the weekend.
It would be recalled Justice Suleman Ambrosa on Saturday nullified Wike’s election on the ground that his victory at the poll did not comply with electoral guidelines and also ordered for fresh election within 90 days.
In a short thanksgiving service yesterday titled: “God has the final say” some of the PDP supporters who spoke to The Nation in tears said they were not crying because the tribunal nullified the election but because some persons in the state are seriously bend to ensure that Wike did not succeed.
Hon. Solomon Ndah, PDP Chieftain in Obio/Akpor Local government said All Progressive Congress (APC) is the enemy that Rivers State has. He called on Rivers people to get ready to resist the evil plan against them.
Mrs. Martin Chigozie who was rolling herself on the floor when the thanksgiving service was going on said she has no strength to speak to the press because she has been crying from the day tribunal nullified Wike’s election.
She noted that God who had made Wike governor will have the final judgment when the time comes, believing that it is God that has final say.
In his opening remark during the thanks giving, the PDP Chairman in the state, Bro. Felix Obuah said PDP supporters in the state should be strong and bold in the fact that what happened is the beginning of their glory.
He advised PDP supporters to disregard the pre-determined judgment and focus on the Almighty God who has the final say. He said Chief Wike is the man of honour whom Rivers people trust and believe especially in his ability to transform the state.
Obuah said: “Wike is the man, Rivers State is PDP state, we are still in-charge. Chief Wike is still the governor of Rivers State and he will continue to be the governor till four years. Don’t be afraid just be strong, believe in God we will at the end get judgment that will favour us.”
When Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike took the microphone, there was massive jubilation by party supporters who later started struggling to force themselves to front roll as to hear and see their governor clearly.
In an encouraging word to his supporters Chief Wike said: “We will win and I will complete my four years tenure as the governor of Rivers State. The thanksgiving service today is very significant because if what enemies planned had work I wouldn’t have been governor today.
“The nullification of my election by tribunal setting in Abuja shows that justice is ours. I am surprised that some people are celebrating over the judgment when they described the judgment against their candidates at the National Assembly as judicial 419.
