His Lordship, Most Revered Dr. Camillus Etokudoh, Bishop of Port Harcourt Diocese has said the reason behind Catholic School Children’s day initiated by the Director of Catholic Education Monsignor Charles Agu was to complement the holistic education in the Catholic schools.
Bishop Etokudoh who was represented by Monsignor Cyprian Onwuli during the third edition of Catholic schools children’s day celebration in Port Harcourt said Catholic education has occupied the minds of many parents.
Monsignor Onwuli noted that the all round education in Catholic schools driven with the passion of high academic excellence may not be enough if there is no special day set out to celebrate Catholic schools children.
The Director of Catholic Education, Monsignor Charles Agu, also said one of the benefits of the Catholic schools children’s day is the opportunity of mutual interaction and relationship among Catholic schools in the state.
Monsignor Agu said: “It is very important to know that we are running a holistic education in the Catholic schools, despite the fact that we inherited dilapidated schools from the government, yet I can confidently tell you that we are still the best.
“Of course, to complement our records as the best, we decided that there is need to set out a day to specially celebrate our children and to make them to realize that they are important to the society, the catholic church and this great nation.”
However, at the end of the Children day celebration, Sacred Heart Seminary lifted the trophy as the overall best.
