According to her, many Nigerians have failed to take advantage of the some of the newly introduced services by the agency, because they have not tested the effectiveness of these services.
“The advent of telecommunication in Nigeria has helped Postal Services to diversify to a great extent.
” As a result of the coming into operation of telecommunication, we now have e-banking, e-commerce and almost e’ in every area of life.
“When doing e-commerce, you must have a physical place where items can be send and collected, the Nigeria Postal Services offers this opportunity,” she said.
She continued, ” A young entrepreneur, who has a fish pond ,wanted to export dried fish to the Western world; he approached Ekiti Postal Territory and we helped him to do it with ease.
“Some people through our services have been able to sell artefacts and rich cultural heritage to outside world thereby increasing their revenue and foreign exchange.
” All they need to do is to abide with the rules and regulations on prohibition and contraband, because we collaborate with the Nigeria Custom Services and NDLEA to ensure things are regulated.”
She boasted that with over 39 Post Offices and post shops as well as other postal agencies in Ekiti people can reach out to their love ones, relations even at the remotest villages and towns.
Mrs. Akinwumi listed some of the achievement of the newly established Territory as increase in the revenue target of Agency within the last 365 days.
She said that the revenue of the postal services had been increased by 20 per cent, a feat she added was achieved through the efforts of committed staff members.
