Worried by the spate of killings across some states in the Northern Nigerian, 32 children under the aegis of Children’s Government of Nigeria on Sunday toured three churches in the Federal Capital Territory and led prayer session for a peaceful Nigeria pleading with God to rid the nation of the present security challenges.
The children who were between the ages of eight and 13 are from Kaduna, Abuja and Plateau said the unenviable position of Nigeria in the global arena as a state with high corruption profile and dearth of social amenities was unacceptable.
They also lamented that the failure of successive governments to address the situation compelled them to step out from the background to join the campaign for a better Nigeria by seeking spiritual intervention from God who would listen to their innocent cry.
The children who visited the Living Faith Church, aka winners Chapel in Goshen City, Foursquare Gospel Church and the Christ embassy in Utako said they are calling on the Creator of the Heaven and the earth to have mercy on Nigeria and securing their future.
“This is the time to pray and the prayer must be led by the innocent of the innocents-the children, the nation would be shut down for one week for prayers and the nation must succeed for the future to be secured.
According to them, the various killings across the country are the execution of satanic agenda which must be stopped: “the hour has come for this senseless killing to stop blaming the myriads of problem confronting the nation on “satanic agenda” which have been promoted by committees set up but without results.
The coordinator of the Children’s Government of Nigeria, Patrick Ikeme, special assistant project development and financing in the office of the special adviser to the President said the children are the “only person today who can stand blameless before the almighty and cry for help on behalf of Nigeria today is the child because the child has not been compromised.
He noted the children are part of the interfaith children group which goes round religious places to intercede for the nation in churches and Mosques by children of the respective religions of Islam and Christianity.
Regional overseer and Pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church, Abuja district headquarters Rev. Isaac Komolafe, who played host to the children said the role of the children to call on God for his mercy on the land was significant as God places a lot of interest on children.
Komolafe said the nation should encourage this action and support the children to keep to their plan for the good of the nation.
