A Lagos- based cosmetic and pharmaceutical company has begun the distribution of vaccines, medical creams and other consumables worth millions of naira to flood victims in the Niger Delta region.
The items which were handed over to Engr. Tele Ikuru, Deputy Governor of Rivers State, who is the chairman of Rivers State flood victims committee was said to part of the social responsibility of Starline group.
Speaking after delivering the items to Government House in Port Harcourt, the National Marketing Manager Dr. Ndubisi Ugochukwu, said the company decided to make the donations base on the love it has for the victims and to recognize them as their stakeholders.
Dr. Ndubisi said: “The cartons of medical creams, vaccines and other items donated here today are not enough when you consider that this people are also our customers and it will be wrong to abandon them at this moment, they are wonderful stakeholders as far as Starline is concerned.
“Because Government cannot do it alone, in continuation of our love for the affected flood victims in other states, we deem it fit to do the same in Rivers State,” he said.
Responding, Engr. Ikuru thanked the company for coming all the way from Lagos to make their donation and challenged other companies operating in Rivers State to emulate the gesture.
