South-South Youths Rally Support For Jonathan

Precious Dikewoha, Port Harcourt

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), South-South Zone has called on Nigerians to support President Goodluck Jonathan’s determination to transform the nation to enviable height.

The body at a Port Harcourt regional meeting also passed a vote of confidence on Comrade Yakubu Shendam, newly elected National President and Comrade Hope George, Vice President South-South, hailing their election victories as well deserved.

In a communiqué issued at the zonal meeting by State Chairmen and Leaders of affiliate Voluntary Youth Organisations, the NYCN commended President Jonathan for his “determination in moving our great country forward and we call on all Nigerians to support him.”

The group condemned the action of youths who tried to disrupt the last NYCN national elections by trying to misinform the public and unwarranted protest, affirming that the South-South NYCN dissociates itself from such people who they advise to support and collaborate with the new leadership.

The youths also expressed gratitude to the South-South Governors for their developmental strides and urged them to aggressively pursue youth oriented programmes.

The Communique was signed by Comrade Hope George, Vice President South-South; Comrade Omomila Michael, Deputy Chairman, Edo State; Comrade Esse Umoh, Chairman, Akwa-Ibom State; and Comrade Fuludu Raphael, National Secretary, National Association of Volunteer Effort among others.
