Senate Rejects Buhari’s $29.6bn External Borrowing Plan

Chris Steven, Abuja

The Nigerian Senate has rejected President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to borrow 29.9 billion Dollars External loan.

The request was thrown out on Tuesday plenary when the Senate moved to deliberate on the 2016-2018 borrowing plan by the Senate Majority Leader, Ali Ndume.

When the matter was put to vote by the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki the Senators trashed ‘the President’s plan of borrowing.

The said amount was supposed to be used for infrastructure across the thirty-six states of the country.

Meanwhile, the confirmation of Non-career Ambassadorial designate nearly suffered a set back as senators were divided over their appointment.

But after a second voting process, the ‘Ayes’ had it in a rather controversial matter.‎

‎Senate President puts the question and referred the confirmation of the 46 Non-Career Ambassador Nominees to the Foreign Affairs senate committee. END!!!
