Barely 24 hours the Senate screened and confirmed the first set of ministerial nominees, the Senate on Thursday announced that it has deferred the screening of two remaining ministerial nominees to next week Tuesday.
The affected nominees are a former governor of Rivers state, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and a former Commissioner in Oyo state, Barrister Adebayo Shittu.
At the close of plenary on Wednesday, it was announced that Amaechi and Barrister Shittu would be screened today.
But, Senate at resumption of plenary on Thursday postponed further screening of ministerial nominees till next week.
Already, 18 nominees were confirmed as ministers having been screened in batches of 10 and eight on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
As at press time, it could not be ascertained why the screening of the two nominees is being deferred again.
It would be recalled that the petition against former Rivers state governor bordering on corruption had been dismissed by the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges because the case is still in court.
Also, the 16 nominees on the second batch list would be screened on Tuesday.
