Crisis rocking the Federal Capital Territory Administration over the dissolution of the Agency for Internal Revenue Services took a different dimension yesterday when Security operatives from the FCT Department of Security headed by one Alhaji Usman shut down the Kaura District Head Office of the FCT Internal Revenue Services.

The operatives comprising of Police men and men of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense  arrived about 4am padlocked the main gate of the building and prevented staff from gaining access into the premises of the office.

The Administrative Secretary of the agency, Mrs. Boma Ayirete who spoke to journalists expressed shock over the shutting down of her office which according to her has generated in few months over N1billion.

On the leadership tussle between the FCT administration and the Chairman of the agency, she noted that the circular dissolving boards of federal parastatals and agencies was clear on the matter concerning the chief executive officer which is to remain in office after the dissolution.

She lamented that tax payers who are coming to collect receipts for money paid would be disappointed seeing the place under lock and key.

However, while reacting to the development, the FCT Permanent Secretary, Engineer Obinna Chukwu explained that the agency remained dissolved in line with the federal government circular that announced the dissolution of boards of federal government commissions and parastatals.

Engineer who spoke a director in the office of the FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr. Idu Atang further explained that the action of the security operatives might not be unconnected with the circular from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation dated 9th October, 201d.

The circular he said reads in part “your continued flaunting of official directive of government as duly conveyed to you via the dissolution and other untoward conduct and actions exhibited by you after the dissolution of the board of FCT Internal Revenue Services constitutes a direct affront of government”

He said the FCT administration has since the inauguration of the Board on May 26 did not post staff to the office.
