Despite last minute attempt by President Muhammadu Buhari to pacify aggrieved lawmakers of All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the inauguration of 8th National Assembly, Senator Bukola Saraki has been elected Senate President of the 8th National Assembly.
Saraki, having been duly nominated was elected unopposed by 51 Senators that were present at plenary.
He was said to have ignored a peace meeting summoned by the President this morning to appeal to aggrieved lawmakers of the party.
It was gathered that the new Senate president has already been sworn in by the Clerk of the Senate.
Saraki, a former Governor of Kwara state is representing Kwara Central in the Senate. He once served as Special Assistant to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
