The Rivers State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party,( PDP) has alleged that the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi ordered men of Spercial Anti Robbery Squad, (SARS) to beat up PDP members and a senior officer of Independent National Electoral Commission during the December 10th legislative rerun election in the state.

The party alleged that a senior officer of INEC, Dr Udege had his head broken by men of Spercial Anti Robbery Squard on 12th December, 2016.

PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr. Samuel Nwanosike stated this yesterday in an interview with journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital where he also alleged that he was manhandled and thoroughly beaten up by SARS operatives.

Nwanosike who was reacting to press statement credited to the Director General of NIMASA, Dr Dakuku Peterside that Governor Nyesom Wike’s conduct is embarrassing, alleged that the Transportation Minister stormed the Ikwerre collation centre on the election day with about 800 soldiers, 1,000 policemen armed with deadly weapons.

He said the Minister ordered the security agents to beat and chase everybody out of the collation centre, adding that he was beaten pulp while PDP agents and some INEC officials were badly beaten and humiliated.

Nwanosike said: “On 12th of December 2016,  Rotimi Amaechi in company of one Emma Chindah who was fingered by Peterside counsin of being involved in fake ballot paper printing scandal and Akin Fakorede stormed the collation centre after hijacking Ikwerre result the previous night with barrels of machine guns and armored tanks”

” Over 1,000 policemen and over 800 military officers stormed Ikwerre Local Government INEC office to scuttle a peaceful election. They harassed everybody including myself . As the agent of Thompson Goerge Sekibo , I was manhandled, thoroughly beaten and dragged out of INEC office”

“The INEC returning officer and collation officer and all the party agents were beaten in the presence of Amaechi. The next day they went round Port Harcourt and attacked many people. On 12th December they came to steal the Emohua result which they fail to hijack from Ikwerre Local Government”

APC Publicity Secretary in Rivers State, Chris Finebone said Amaechi did not visit any polling unit or collation centre on the Election Day other than Ubima his ward where he had gone to cast his vote.

He wondered how Amaechi would have ordered police to beat up somebody when he did visit any polling unit on December 10th rerun election  apart from  his Ubima  polling unit where he had gone to cast his vote.

He said the dismissal of the six police officers was in other as they were found guilty of electoral misconduct, adding that the PDP allegations against Amaechi was false and fabricated which has no basis.
