Rivers Politics: More Dusts As APC, PDP Bicker Over Wechie’s Comment On Wike
Paul Obiajunwo, Port Harcourt

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their rival in the state, The All Progressive Congress (APC) have continue to raise dust and tension over the comment of the leader of Integrity Group , Mr. Livingstone Wechie who recently claimed to have revised from falsehood to truth.

Before his purported sack on Thursday by some members of Integrity Group,  Wechie was the Executive Director of The Integrity Friends for Truth and Peace Initiatives, popularly called “The Integrity Group”.

It was the group that petitioned the former governor of Rivers State, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and accused him of all sorts of administrative atrocities with the aim to stop him from being screen as the Minister of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

But Wechie sudden claimed of revisal from falsehood to the truth, following his bombshell interview he granted on the popular platform, Focus Nigeria,  a Programme of  African Independent Television (AIT)   where he shocked the world that he lied against Amaechi.

Unlike before he was being celebrated for fighting against Ameachi,  his  recent claim to  revise himself and stand on the truth did not go down well with the PDP led government in the state.

Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, through his media Aide Simeon Nwakaudu exonerated himself from knowing or working with Wechie, adding that his comment against the present administration shows that he is an agent of APC.

Nwakaudu said: “Before I proceed, let me make this abundantly clear that   Mr. Livingstone Wechie  was never an employee of the Rivers State Government  under the leadership  of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

“There was  no time that Mr.  Wechie  acted on behalf  of the Rivers State Government or the governor. There was no need for the merchant of blackmail   to work for the administration, since he runs a private company.

“Mr Wechie, himself, on his different television and radio appearances, stated unequivocally that he was not on the sponsorship of the Rivers State Government.”

A Chieftain of APC and a close ally to Amaechi, Hon Azubuike Wanjoku while reacting on the allegation that Amaechi may have paid Wechie to say what he said noted that he had worked with Amaechi for 21 years and that his master  would never come close to a character like Livingstone.

I strongly believe that   Livingstone was tired of the falsehood that has become his stock in trade working closely with somebody like Wike Rivers State. He is struggling very hard to purge himself of his participation in the cloud of hatred that has enveloped Rivers politics.

“ And the first step is this confession , the second will be to ask for forgiveness from Amaechi, the Nigerian Senate and Nigerian public and lastly he needs to go to a seminary or convent far from those vipers in Rivers State government who he had associated with

A PDP chieftain in Ikwerre Local government, Mr. Frank Onwusonye said the youth wing of their party in the state is planning to carryout protest against “Wechie’s imported lie” against governor Wike.

He alleged that it was “those who are not happy with the achievement of Mr. Project that is looking for a way to bring him down but they will not succeed. Wechie had never and will never work for PDP or Rivers State government. “

But Rivers State APC Publicity SecretaryChris Finebone, said   It is always the position in Rivers APC that every lie has an expiry date.

“Today, all the lies and falsehood perpetrated against Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi by Nyesom Wike and the PDP expired with ignominy. No better vessel would have conveyed the message of shame than Livingstone Wechie himself having been the arrowhead of Wike and PDP on their self-appointed mission to destroy Amaechi.

“But to God be all the glory and adoration that the chicken came home to roost much earlier than later. What unveiled today can only be an act of God. It should serve as a great lesson to those who preoccupy themselves with plotting evil against someone like Amaechi who is God’s favourite son.”
