Rivers Police kill Four kidnappers in Gun Battle, Rescue Abducted KENPOLY Bursar

One AK47 rifle, locally made pistol,  25 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition others  recovered

Rivers State Police Command at the weekend rescued the abducted Bursar of Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnics (KENPOLY) Bori, Mrs. Lilian Okorite Nkanbia-Davies after a fierce gun battling with her abductors which led to the death of four suspected kidnappers.

Mrs. Nkanbia-Davies was abducted on Tuesday 17th 2015 after the gunmen trailed her from the school to Yeghe and Kpopie Junction in Gokana Local government area of Rivers State where she was attacked.

  Confirming the death of the suspected kidnappers and the release of the abducted Bursar yesterday in Port Harcourt, the state capital, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ahmad Muhammad said the victim was rescued in the bush around Kaani community in Khana Local Government Area

Ahmad said the special tactical outfit set up by the Commissioner of Police to tackle the menace of kidnappings in the state, safely rescued Mrs. Nkanbia-Davies and killed four kidnappers at the scene of the operation after a fierce gunmen battle with the abductors.

“The rescue team during the operation has a fierce gun duel with the kidnappers resulting to the death of four kidnappers. One AK47 rifle, one locally made pistol, one magazine, 25 rounds of 7.62 live ammunitions and five cartridges were recovered at the scene after the operation,” he said.

The Police spokesman however warned criminal elements in the state to relocate from Rivers State as the police are determined more than before to take the onslaughts to their hideouts.

 The Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) KENPOLY chapter, Comrade Ferry Barineka Gberegbe who also confirmed the release of their colleague thanked the Rivers State Police Command and  Ogoni youths for making  sacrifices that led to the freedom of the victim.

He called on the  Caretaker Chairman of Khana Local government area  Mr.Solomon Ndigbara to continue to give Rivers Police Command all the necessary  support they need to make Ogoni a save place.
