The All Progressive Congress (APC) Supporters in the four local government areas that makeup Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality, have threatened to dump APC for another political parties in the state over what they described as unfair political appointment.
The aggrieved supporters said their decision became necessary following lack of stringent measures to address issues concerning some of their leaders, Hon. Chidi LIoyed, Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi and Igo Aguma who they claimed have not been considered for appointment.
Speaking on behalf of the supporters yesterday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, Mr. Ifeayin Evans Osi, an APC Chieftain, said party leaders in the area have been grossly neglected and forgotten by the leaders of the party at the center, in spite of the contributions and sacrifices they made for the Party at the state level.
Osi alleged that some members of APC in the state, who did not contribute half of what Hon Chidi Lloyd and other party fateful did for the party, have been settled or compensated with juicy and lucrative appointments and contracts by President Buhari.
He said the previous appointments made to some APC members in the state, by the federal government were given to other Rivers Senatorial districts without considering in particular, Rivers South East senatorial district.
He noted that in term of voting capacity, the district has the highest voting strength, adding that they delivered the APC governorship candidate, Hon. Dakuku Peterside and President Muhammed Buhari during the last general election.
Osi said: “I want to know the rationale and criteria for appointments into any federal Parastatals in Nigeria in which Hon. Chidi Lloyd, Igo Aguma and Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi did not merit or qualified to be. we as the APC supporters in the Rivers East are not happy.
“Our supporters are watching Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi with keen interest, we love him and we will continue to support him. We want him to act fast over our plight if not, we would move emeses to support any political party in the forthcoming re-run elections, even in 2019 general elections.
“We want the Minister of Transportation, Chief Chibuike Rotimi Amechi, to know that those who sacrificed their blood and life on the floor of the hallowed chambers of the Rivers State House of Assembly during the State Assembly saga, has been abandoned to their faith in the party.”
