Reps To Set Committee On Kale-Balge IDP Camp Accidental Bombing

Following the accidental bombing of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in RANN, Kale-Balge in Borno State by the Nigeria Airforce plane on Tuesday morning, killing 52 and injuring about 11 others, the House of Representative has resolved to constitute a 10-man committee to probe the incidence.

Members according to a statement by Abdulrazak Namdasm, Chairman, House Committee on Media and Publicity, were selected from its committees on IDPs, Refugees & Initiatives in the North East zone; Air Force Emergency and Disaster Preparedness; Army and Healthcare Services respective.

The committee is to among others: “visit the scene of the disaster and commiserate with bereaved families of the victims, the Federal and State governments, respectively and the entire people of Nigeria over the unfortunate incident; ascertain the level of response of the emergency assistance needed by the surviving victims of the air strike and members of their immediate families; also, ascertain the extent to which emergency and adequate health services are being extended to the surviving victims of the mishap.”

The house also resolved to observe a one-minute silence in honour of the unfortunate victims of the disaster.
