One challenge comedian, broadcaster and all-round entertainer, Uche Ogbuagu may not have envisaged, or obviously underestimated why setting up his 24-hour radio station in the heart of Owerri, the Imo State capital some years ago was power supply.
The multiple award winner, who was recently recognized as an “Outstanding Igbo Orator,’’ at the Igbo Awards in Enugu last weekend, confessed that his biggest challenge today is ensuring that “My Radio FM’’ remains the toast of the city dwellers and beyond, at a time public power supply is almost non-existent.
He told our correspondent in Enugu last weekend: “It’s not been easy running it 24 hours a day but we are not relenting. The biggest challenge is power supply. You know what it takes to sustain such a project depending more on diesel. All the same, we can’t stop because of our listeners. We have made the difference and want to add more values to it.”
He has however continued to excel in his chosen fields of human endeavour by providing an enabling environment for the younger generation as well as a sense of belonging to equally join the party and improve their lot.
