Police defuse bomb in Kano varsity

The timely intervention of the Nigerian Police prevented what could have been another bloody day in the ancient city of Kano in Northern Nigeria as a time bomb placed close to a mosque was defused.

The bomb was discovered at the new campus of the Bayero University of Kano, the same institution whose old campus was the scene of deadly bombing on Sunday morning.

That Sunday morning bombing, which targeted Christian at a worship centre on campus, claimed the lives of two professors and thirteen others.

The Post understands that the improvised device was defused 20 minutes before it was set to detonate.

Spokesman for the Kano Police Command, Musa Magaji Majia, said the operation was successfully conducted following a tip off. He added that the entire campus has been searched to ensure that there were no other bombs. The Command assured students and lecturers of the university of their safety.
