Perpetrators Of Abaji Political Attack Must Face Law – FCT Minister

All perpetrators of the political violence that led to the attack of opponents in Abaji, the capital of Abaji Area Councils would be arrested and be made to face the full wrath of the law, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has said

Mallam Bello made this disclosure on
Tuesday at the National Assembly Complex while briefing House of Representatives Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matter on the preparedness of the FCT Administration for the rescheduled Area
Councils elections.

The Minister reiterated that all those involved irrespective of political affiliations would be arrested and prosecuted to serve as
deterrent to those who may wish to copy that anti social behavior.

According o him, “I have already directed the Security Agencies to ensure that all those involved irrespective of their political lining
be arrested as the law would take it full course”.

Malam Bello maintained that the FCT Area Councils’ elections must be conducted peacefully and therefore urged all political actors to warn their followers not to be involved political thuggery.

His words: “The FCT Administration would partner with all stakeholders to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order in any part of the Federal Capital Territory”.

He emphasized that all the flashpoints have been identified across the Territory and would be effectively monitored to guarantee that law and order is maintained before, during and after the FCT Area Councils’ ‎elections.

The Minister revealed that the Administration has proactively contacted the Traditional Rulers on the need to reach out to their
subjects on a peaceful election as well as mobilization of the residents to come out en-masse to observe their civic responsibility.

Malam Bello assured that the FCT Administration would continue to
support the Security Agencies to enable them be on top of any unforeseen circumstance.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, House Committee on Interior, Hon. Adams Jagaba, who is also a member of the Committee has assured the FCT Minister that he would mobilize all the security agencies to fully support the FCT Administration in ensuring that the April 9, 2016 elections are conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.
