In an effort to resolve the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), leaders of the party would on Monday meet with concerned and aggrieved members to find a lasting solution.
Those to meet at the Ondo Governor’s Lodge in Abuja are, the PDP Governors’ Forum, PDP National Assembly Caucus, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party, Makarfi and Allimodu Sheriff groups.
Disclosing this on Sunday, Director General of PDP Governors’ Forum, Osaro Onaiwu said that the agenda of the meeting is to resolve the crisis rocking the party.
He added that decision would also be taken on the forthcoming Edo state gubernatorial election.
Onaiwu said: “The leaders of the party, the Governors’ Forum, National Assembly Caucus, BoT, Makarfi group and Sheriff group will meet tomorrow (today) to address the issue in the party.
It would be recalled that after the party national convention held in Port Harcourt on May 21, where Sheriff was sacked as the National Chairman, the party constituted a caretaker committee headed by former Kaduna state governor, Ahmed Makarfi to head the party for a period of three months, but dissatisfied with this development, Sheriff went to court to challenge the action of the party, a situation that led to the party national secretariat to be sealed off by armed police men for days before it was reopened for staff and journalists not long ago.
