PDP Accuses Amaechi of Looting, Illegal Sale Of Government Property

From Paul Obiajunwo, Port Harcourt

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cried out over the looting of government property in the state.

The party alleged that ahead of Governor Amaechi’s exit on May 29, 2015, the All Progressives Congress (APC) government was

spending the last few weeks to preside over illegal sale of government properties to close friends, political allies and family members of the outgoing regime.

The party through a press statement signed by Jerry Needam, the Special Assistant on Media to State PDP Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah, also described the illegal employment in Rivers State Polytechnic Bori as a waste of resources.

The party also accused the chairman, Rivers State Civil Service Commission, Mr. Ngo Martins-Yellow, and the 23 Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairmen of secretly employing thousands of persons to swell the number of Civil Servants in the state

The party said: “The PDP appreciates the employment of Rivers people, but such employment must follow due process, must not be partisan and without hidden agenda.

“It is uncalled for, and criminal act by political aides to Gov. Chibuike Amaechi in connivance with some senior officials of government to act this way. Governance is a normal tradition and does not mean the end of government or discontinuation of political leadership in the State.

“We warned all those involved in this wanton looting to desist. The long arm of the law will surely catch up with such perpetrators of the act,” the party warned.
