Panic As Two Policemen Feared Killed In Rivers

 Two officers of the Rivers State Police Command were yesterday feared killed in  Borokiri, Port Harcourt City Local government of the state.

An eyewitness Mr. Bright Wenedah  told our reporter  that the two police officers are attached to the Anti Terrorism Unit of the command.

Wenedah disclosed that the security operatives were shot dead  while attempting to repel an attack in the area by the yet to be identified gunmen, in Port Harcourt town.

It was learned that the suspected cultists had opened fire on the team of Anti Terrorism Unit around Rex Lawson Street, Borokiri area of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the state.

One of the members of the team who confirmed the attack on anonymity said the state Commissioner of Police, Francis Odesanya, has visited the scene of the incident and has directed the deployment of the more troops in the area.

He said Odesanya has also ordered full investigation that would unravel and prosecute the persons responsible of the crime.

It was gathered that the teams of fully armed security men have been deployed, causing panic among residents of the area.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP. Nnamdi Omoni only confirmed that his men were at Borokiri area to arrest a situation.

Omoni said: “Well, investigation has been ordered, the commissioner of Police has ordered for intensive investigation into the incident. The state Criminal Investigation Department is handling the investigation.”
