The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday condemned the condemned the discovery of what looks like a ritual killing set-up at Soka in Oluyole Local Government Area.
At a plenary presided over by Speaker Monsurat Sunmonu, members the assembly said the discovery was shocking
About 20 decomposed bodies and some rescued 16 emaciated captives from an underground dungeon believed to be a ritual killing site on Saturday.
In what has shocked residents of Ibadan, the officers also discovered several decomposing bodies and body parts, hundreds of human skulls, old clothes, photographs and voter cards in the chamber located in a forest near Soka.
Hon. Olusegun Olaleye, who drew the attention of the House to the incident, said that it should be addressed and perpetrators brought to book.
“I want to say that the incident at Soka was callous, malicious and wicked. I think the development should condemned by all civilised persons,” he said even as he called on Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, who visited the scene of the incident on Monday, to take over the site for developmental purposes.
Mr. Mohammed Indabawa, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police has already decided to call in forensic experts in trying to solve the mystery of the killings.
Indabawa, who visited the community on Monday said: “I am personally involved in the investigation of this case and whoever is involved shall be apprehended.
“We will leave no stone unturned and I can assure you that investigation has commenced which would involve the services of forensic experts,” he said.
