The government of Osun State has concluded arrangements toclear mad people out of major roads in the state. Disclosing this in Osogbo, the state capital on Monday, Special Adviser to the Governor on Youths, Sports and Special needs, Biyi Odunlade, expressed worry on the menace of mad people who roam the streets freely.
The state government, according to Odunlade, has concluded plan to build a transit camp for the mentally challenged persons at Ilobu town, in Irepodun Local Government area of the state to reduce the rate at which they roam the streets.
The proposed camp, he said, would serve as a rehabilitation centre for mentally deranged persons in the state when completed.
He disclosed that government plans also would see the affected persons given another chance at life, adding that government was discussing with several non-governmental organizations and teaching hospitals in the state on the need to collaborate on the matter.
Residents of Osogbo, the state capital recently raised the alarm over the increasing rate of lunatics attacking people.
