Ondo Guber: Group Tackles FG Over N5bn Insurance Deal For Campaign Funding

A group, Integrity Youth Alliance, on Thursday urged the Federal Government to come clean on how NICON Insurance owned by Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim managed to clinch a N5 billion insurance from the Nigerian Police.
The money covers group life, group assets and group personal accident insurance deals.
The group, which described itself as concerned future leaders of Ondo State, which Jimoh Seeks to govern, replacing the incumbent and outgoing Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, under Alli Modu-Sheriff faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), wondered whether due process was followed in awarding the contract at a time, it said, Jimoh ‘s NICON Group is a shadow of itself.
According to a statement by the group, pasted on the Facebook wall of Lere Olayinka, Spokesman of Governor Ayodele Fayose of neighbouring Ekiti State, why will Jimoh Ibrahim be given the N5 billion juicy deal, “if not that the Presidency, through the Inspector General of Police just used the insurance deal to channel funds to Jimoh Ibrahim to fund his governorship election.”
Worse still, the group noted the urgency attached to the deal as demonstrated in the way the IGP “I the FBN Insurance under the leadership of one Mr. Lucas A. Durojaiye not to give other underwriters and brokers’ letter of offer as that will expose the deal with Jimoh Ibrahim.”
The statement also wondered why the factional governorship candidate enjoys the services of more security details than even the sitting governor of Ondo State.
“We have heard him saying he has the country’s security in his palm,”
