The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governorship aspirants in Ondo state have resolved to support any of them who eventually emerges the party’s candidate in the October 2012 governorship election in the state.
The aspirants, said they were committed to forming the next government in the state.
In a communiqué signed by one of the aspirants, Comrade Sola Iji, after a meeting at the party secretariat in Akure, the Ondo state capital, all the aspirants agreed to work for the victory of the party in the election.
“All of us have agreed in principle by the decision of the party leadership as we maintained from the beginning that whosoever emerges as the candidate of our party would be supported in the interest of the party,” the communique stated.
“We are using this forum to call on all party members, supporters and admirers to remain loyal and be committed to the struggle of ensuring the emergence of the ACN candidate as the next governor in the state,” it added.
The aspirants urged members of the party to shun insinuations that could bring ACN into disrepute, saying enemies of the party were out to prevent it from winning the next election in the state.
The communiqué read in part: “we share the same agenda of the party. We have been talking to ourselves on the goal of the party to unseat Mimiko’s administration.
“We will not at this crucial stage allow all our past efforts to go in vain. We are determined to work assiduously for the victory of the party.”
