NSE: Foreign Investors Beef-Up Portfolio In March

Indications emerged today that the volume of transaction of foreign investors in the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) increased in the month of March 2013. The March 2013 edition of a monthly publication on foreign portfolio participation in equity trading at the NSE released today revealed that total foreign inflow into the market rose during the month at the expense of local investors.

The data from the exchange showed that foreign portfolio investment in the month amounted to N217.56 billion out of N510.1 billion total transactions carried out in the market during the period. Analysis of the figures showed that 42.7 per cent of the overall value of transactions during the month came through foreign in flow while local investors contributed 57.3 per cent.

However, figures obtained from the NSE puts foreign investment in the market in February at N140.8 billion or 39.3 per cent of total investment compared to 60.7 per cent by local investors in the same month.
