Northerners in Rivers State, under the aegis Northern Community Association has endorsed the governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

The group made this declaration yesterday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital during their door-to-door campaign to sensitize the northern indigenes in the state on the need to vote wisely.

The leader of the group, Alhaji Jauro Atiku said the endorsement of Peterside was the decisions of the South-South zone of the organization which has satisfied with the leadership qualities in Peterside.

Atiku said the ongoing sensitization initiated by his group will assist the leadership   of   Northern Community Association in Rivers State to canvas enough support for Peterside.

He said nobody has the right to ask any Northerner to leave the zone or state where he or she registered, adding that every Northerner must remain where he or she registered and also cast their votes without hindrance.

He noted that as muslin faithful, the Northerners in Rivers State will not accept violence or anything that could truncate the democratic process.

“Today as the Presidential and governorship election draw closer, the above organization which is non-governmental wishes to inform the public that after a serious consultation we have decided to endorse Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside as our candidate.

“We are calling on the stakeholders in the south-south especially in Rivers State to allow Northerners remain where they registered and cast their vote. It would be unlawful for anyone to ask them leave the unit, local government or state where they registered.”
