A group, Niger Delta Peace Campaign for Development Network (NDPCDN) has described the appointment of Engr. Sam Ajenakevwe Adjogbe, the Executive Director Project (EDP) as an attestation of the quality of the NDDC board which should encourage peace and harmony in the region.
They called on militants and youths in Niger Delta to give President Mohammadu Buhari a chance and support his developmental agenda for the people of the region.
The group said the call to give peace a chance became necessary following threats by Niger Delta Avengers to resume bombing on oil and gas facilities in the region.
In a meeting which lasted for four hours in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, the leader Comrade Bussa Fullpower said, he is confident that Buhari’s administration will accelerate development in the Niger Delta region.
Fullpower said President Buhari has already done a great job in the region through the calibers of people he appointed into the board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), adding that what he (Buhari) needs is just for the youths to give peace a chance.
Fullpower said: “Aggressive agitation in the Niger Delta region is unnecessary at the moment; we are not gaining anything from the attack on the oil and gas installations. The only benefits are bad name, destruction of our environment and aquatic lives. We must give President Buhari a chance.
“Today, Ogonis are jubilating over UNEP report implementation; we have our sons and daughters in the key positions. We are convinced with the quality of people in NDDC Board and other appointees, especially Sam Adjogbe who has empowered many Niger Delta youths.”
