Niger Delta Youth Wants Buhari To Probe NDDC

Paul Obiajunwo, Port Harcourt

The youths of Niger Delta have called on President Mohammadu Buhari to set up a panel that could probe the activities of the Dan Abia led board of Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC)

The group under the aegis of the Aggrieved Voice of Niger Delta Youth made the call yesterday during their annual general meeting   in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

They accused Dan Abia –led board of NDDC of squandering money meant for the award of water- hyacinth to Niger Delta communities, especially communities where source of drinking water have been affected by oil spill pollution.

The President of the youth group, Comrade Amatari bipeledi said the only way the Niger Delta youth could support President Buhari led government is to expose anything that could jeopardized his administration.

He said the youth of Niger Delta are ready and willing to partner with President Buhari government and to give him a full support on any policies that could liberate the people of Niger Delta.

He regretted that Dan Abia led NDDC board did not encourage peaceful agitation following his administrative style which supported violence youths than peaceful agitators.

“We are calling on President Buhari to immediately set a panel to probe the present NDDC board. The board is supposed to protect the lives of those suffering in our riverine communities but they failed to do so.

“NDDC is expected to shortlist names of beneficiaries before giving award letters, but today NDDC gave award letters through the back door to their cronies, relatives, pseudo, and proxy companies without due process.

“We have many facts and evidence to present to President Buhari whenever he is ready to act on our fact. The purpose for the creation of NDDC has been seriously compromised and abused.”
