New Party Slams Wike, Umahi Over Claim To Takeover Power In 2019
Chris Steven, Abuja
Both Governors of Rivers and Ebonyi States, Barrister Nyesom Wike and David Umahi have come under attack from the leadership of People’s Mega Party (PMP) which has condemned their claim that the People’s  Democratic Party (PDP)  will reclaim power from ruling All Progressives Congress  (APC) in 2019.

National Chairman of PMP, Chief Perry Opara,  who spoke through his aide, Anya Goodness in reaction to media report quoting Wike and Umahi as saying that PDP will return to power in 2019 described such statement by the two governors as a dreaming .

“It is a day dream for any Nigerian to think that PDP will come back to power in 2019 or even in the future.

PDP is in comatose, disarray and cannot win future elections” he said

He said Governor  Wike should rather kill his optimism and concentrate on providing dividends of democracy to the people of Rivers State noting that the two governors “ will fight a battle of their life to get a second mandate in 2019”.

“PDP had five out of the six Area councils in the FCT and could not reclaim even one sit in the last concluded election in FCT couple of weeks back.
How then can such a party start thinking of 2019. The number of states controlled by PDP will reduce so embarrassingly in 2019.

We are anxious to meet with PDP in the Anambra gubernatorial election in 2017. The Anambra election will test the popularity of the Mega Party and PDP’s might. PDP parades big names without followers and we shall expose that in 2017 election in Anambra” Opara said .

The PMP National Chairman said it was unimaginable that PDP that cannot conduct successful primaries think of controlling the Federal Government again in 2019 noting that the party has reached its zenith where it is currently experiencing law of diminishing return.

“ My advice to PDP members who are young, credible and focused is to join the party of the future; a party that condemns impunity, high handedness, disregard to the rule of law, corruption and ineptitude.

The Mega Party is the alternative platform. We want to remind Wike, Umahi and their likes that PDP faithful nationwide are moving into the Mega Party in droves and after the watershed on the 21st of May, 2016, there will be a tsunami in the PDP that will culminate to an overflow of the Mega Party. Since the manifesto and the constitution of the PDP and the PMP are related in theory but different in practice, the tendency for people who believed in the dreams of Alex Ekwueme, Ken Nnamani, Senator Dalhatu Tafilda and other former Leaders of PDP will not look elsewhere” he said .
