Disc and Cassette Dealers Association of Nigeria, marketers of music and movies, are spoiled for war with pirates who sabotage their business concern.
In a chat recently, Clement Efenudu, the President of the association, disclosed that they are not taking the war with the economic saboteurs with kids’ glove.
“The way the pirates are going on in Edo State calls for concern. We are determined to push them out of the state. The people we are talking about are rich and powerful. They believe that they are untouchable. Until recently we were not hearing much of them in the state.
“We started experiencing their nefarious activities not too long ago when the authorities cracked down on them and dislodged them from their operational base in Alaba Market, Lagos. Thus they relocated to Edo State.
“They are economic saboteurs who deal in pirated copies of movies and music to the detriment of the original owners of the work and the general public who are deceived into buying their poor quality products.
“Those patronising them should be warned that it is a criminal offence and they risk going to jail,” he emphasised.
Meanwhile, the association has forwarded a petition to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5, Benin, demanding for thorough investigation of the activities of the pirates and bring them to justice.
