As pregnant woman stabs to dead

The lawmaker representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Chidi Frank Wihioka has called on the security agencies in Rivers State to probe the killing taking place in some communities in Ikwerre Local government area of the state.
Hon.Wihioka also advised the chief security officer of the state, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike to be proactive on security of life and property, adding that no government can achieve progress in an atmosphere of rancor and insecurity.
There had been shooting and killing in Igwuruta, Apani, Omerelu, Ubima and Isiokpo communities, all in Ikwerre Local government area of Rivers State.
A pregnant woman who was resting in front of her house at Isiokpo community was on Wednesday stabbed to death by unknown gunmen after struggling with them to prevent the husband from being abducted.
Addressing members of his constituency on the need to make themselves available for voter’s registration ahead of 2019 election, the lawmaker said the killing in the area must stop.
Wihioka who was angry over the report of the killing in the area, charge the police to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime and ensure that they face the full wrath of the law.
He described the act of killing that is taking in the communities as evil, stressing that the youths must desist from any act capable of giving the Local government and the people a bad name.
Hon. Wihioka: “I’m not happy over the killing that is taking place in our communities, this is after some of the young men claimed to have been accepted amnesty offered by the state government. If truly they have accepted amnesty while shooting and killing again.
“The killing in this part of the state is getting out of hand, I want the Police and other security agency to look into this resumption of killing and find a lasting solution. Those who are perpetrating this evil must be made to face the wrath of the law.
“The governor of the state who is the Chief Security Officer of the state must use his good office to address the plight of my people. He must be proactive on the issue that has to do with the security of life.”
