Ahead of the December 5 Supplementary governorship election in Kogi state, the Democratic People’s Congress (DPC) has suspended it’s governorship candidate in the election, Hon. Philip Ezekiel Koleola.
A statement signed by the National Chairman of the party, Reverend Olusegun Peters said the National Working Committee of DPC met yesterday to deliberate on a petition from its Kogi State chapter against Hon. Koleola.
“In view of the gross anti-party activities leveled against Hon. Koleola, the National Working Committee hereby suspends him indefinitely and ratifies his suspension by the Kogi State chapter of the party” the statement said .
It further said that a disciplinary Committee would be set up to look into his anti-party activities during the governorship election in the state, and purported decision to go to court in collaboration with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Idris Wada to challenge INEC directive to All Progressives Congress (APC) to substitute the late Abubakar Audu, its candidate in the inconclusive election.
The party said having reviewed the political quagmire in Kogi state, it has resolved not to challenge INEC’s decision in court in the interest of the nation.
“DPC disowns any legal action taken by its suspended governorship candidate, Hon. Philips Ezekiel Koleola.
As a mass movement, DPC shall at all times promote democratic ideals and ethos that will deepen and strengthen our political process.” the party said
