Kano Returns To Normal After Sanusi Installed Emir

imageNormalcy has now returned to the city of Kano following the protest that greeted the emergence of the new Emir of Kano, Mallam Sunusi Lamido Sunusi.
Our Reporter observed that, there is now relative peace as people are going about their normal business activities without tension.
However, in an apparent display of reconciliation and support to the new Emir, sons of the late Emir yesterday paid homage to the new Emir at Government House.
The New Emir made his first public appearance at the Government House with members of the Emirate Council, Districts Heads, including sons of the late Emir Ado Abdullahi Bayero paying homage to him.
Sariki Kano called on Kano people to espouse peace and harmony so as to move the State forward.
In his maiden interview with reporters in Kano at the Government House before the presentation of his letter of appointment by Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, Sariki Sunusi promised to carry everybody along.
According to him, “I urge Kano people to always have the fear of God in all their undertakings so that peace and harmony would continue to reign in the state.”
His Highness also called for unity amongst the Emirate Council and the people of Kano, pointing out that he had no bitter acrimony against the losers because in a contest, “there is a winner and a loser.”
He further stated that the late Emir was his father and he grew up under his tutelage, ‘’ let me tell you that, I am married to the first daughter of the late Emir which is my first wife at home and more so the Turaki Kano, Nasiru Ado Bayero is my bosom brother. We slept together in for about 10 years and at this time, why should we go against the same family’’
He also promised to be fair and just in carrying out his responsibilities as the father of all, “there is a winner and loser, so the looser should take the outcome of the result in good faith because power is given by God’’
He however, condoled with the family of the late Emir of Kano with the promise to continue with the good work of the late Emir.
Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano state thanked the, people of Kano state for their understanding and cooperation in the picking of the new emir of Kano Mallam Sunusi Lamido Sunusi.
Kwankwaso said that whatever that must have happened on the emergence of the new Emir, the people of Kano should take it as an act of God because there were speculations that the whole process was politicized.
‘’I stand to say that such notions is wrong in the sense that three names were presented to me by the four king makers of which some people said the new Emir’s name was not included, let me be categorical, he (sunusi ) was top on the list and as such, I called the king makers as my witness.”
Kwankwaso also emphasized the need to take adequate care of the family of the late Emir Ado Bayero and also donated houses for the family in which he said the keys to the houses will be handed over to the Wali Kano, Alhaji Mahe Bashir Wali.
Responding, the Wambai Kano who is the Senior Councilor of the Kano Emirate Council, Alhaji Abbas Sunusi expressed happiness over the appointment of the New Emir.
