JTF Allegedly Kills Ibadan Born Footballer In Rivers

 Operatives of Joint Military Task Force,  (JTF) has reportedly shot  a footballer, Mr. Izu Joseph to death at Okaki community in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Joseph who is a central defender of 3SC Football Club of Ibadan was killed at the Okaki community jetty.

A source in the community who preferred to speak on condition of anonymity told The post that the soldiers were trailing a suspect before they accosted Joseph.

The source alleged   the victim’s plea that he was not the suspect they were looking for fell on deaf ears.

He worried that the soldiers killed the footballer instantly without  much interrogation nor investigation. 

The source said: “Izu Joseph, a central defender with 3SC of Ibadan was killed by JTF operatives at Okaki in Ahoada West LGA Rivers State. The incident happened at the community Jetty on Sunday.

“The boy was at the jetty when the security operatives in the area who were in search of suspected hoodlums accosted the victim.He told them that he is a footballer but his plea fell on deaf ears as he was shot. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by some people but he  later died.”

When contacted the Captain Eli Lazarus, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 2 Brigade Port Harcourt he said he was not around but sent a cell phone number  of his colleague whose name was given as Lt.Shokoya.

When contacted Lt. Shokoya he confirmed the incident but said he was writing a press release on the incident but pleaded with the reporter to wait for while for his commander to sign the release before sending
