Abdulmumin Jibrin, embattled former chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, on Tuesday said neither he, companies with links to him or members of his family benefitted from any contract awarded by the Small and Medium Scale Entreprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
According to him, “no company of mine or links to me or members of my family benefitted from any contracts in the five years I have been in the House of Reps,” describing the allegation as smear campaign orchestrated by those he referred to as the “axis of evil in the House,” who he accused of using some disgruntled elements to divert attention from their crimes, while attempting to divert attention from the budget fraud and corruption.
Jibrin called on the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission to investigate the so-called petition expeditiously and notify the public of their findings.
He expressed confidence that should the EFCC dig deeper into the SMEDAN and Refugee Commission allegation, it will find some members that are culpable and not him.
He expressed shock at that anyone would challenge him to return to the country if innocent, unaware that he is back.
Jibrin said he is resolute in the crusade against budget fraud, following which the first budget fraud and corruption submit is slated for Kano on Monday, January 9, 2017.
