INEC Ready To Commence Senator Malaye Recall Process Again

The Indpedendent National Electoral Commission(INEC) in Kogi State has disclosed that the commission ready  set to commence the recall process in accordance with law.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor James I .Apam who disclosed this while speaking at a stakeholders meeting at INEC Office in Lokoja on Wednesday, stated as law abiding organization, the INEC will commence the recall process which hithertop stopped last year September.
It would be recalled that the Senator representing Kogi West senatorial districts, senator Dino Melaye was having running battle with state government which led to a recall process.

However, Senator Melaye dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to court to the process claiming that INEC has no power to recall him.

The law Court said that INEC has the power and  could commence the recall of a serving Senator,  noting that the INEC will hold a meeting in Abuja after which the process will commence immediately.

According to him, the verification exercise start by last Saturday of April 2018, where all those signed the recall petition would be verified

Professor Apam noted that a referendum would be slated first Saturday of May where the people will say Yes or No, while election will come immediately.

On the ongoing Continue Voters Registration exercise, the Resident Electoral Commissioner said that the exercise will will on till 30th November,2018.

He also told the officers of Political Parties that in accordance with electoral law (2010 as amended) that the Independent National Electoral Commission must monitor all party primaries.

He noted that women should be included in the party executive, stressing the people with disabilities must included as members of Political Parties
