The National Executive Council of Ijaw Youth Development Association (IYDA) has pledged their support to the initiator of Balamere women empowerment programme Mrs. Beena Youdeowei, Chief Executive Officer of Balamere investment Nigeria Limited.
The group made this statement yesterday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital during a workshop on HIV/AIDS awareness.
Hon. Prince Tinimowei Oniyemofe, the President of IYDA who was ably represented by the group’s Public Relations Officer, Comrade Fiyebo Eperetei said the empowerment of women in our society has become necessary to reduce the increasing number of HIV/AIDS patients.
They also noted that Mrs. Youdeowei deserves an award for her selfless service in empowering Nigerian women through her women empowerment projects.
“The only way we can succeed in the HIV/AIDS awareness campaign is to empower more women and make them self-reliable and dependent to face the challenges of life. In this part of the world poverty has lured many women to destroy their pride”, Comrade Fiyebo said.
He said the Ijaw youth group was proud Mrs. Youdeowei and therefore decided to honour her.
