Gunmen on Rampage in Rivers Community

Unknown gunmen yesterday robbed family  houses,  shops, hotel  and other night businesses during their night operation  in  Aluu community in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State.

One of the victims who spoke to The POST under the condition of anonymity said the gunmen invaded Aluu community at 9pm and ransack shops hotels and other night business in the area.

He said the gunmen confidently robbed the area and collected cash, phones and other valuable items belonging to the victims.

It would be recalled that three days ago unknown gunmen allegedly identified as Iceland cult group invaded Aluu community and killed more than 15 persons including pregnant woman during supremacy cult battle in the area.

The residents of Aluu community are presently living in fear and anxiety. Information available to The Nation showed that many residents of the area have relocated to the neighboring community for fear of reprisal attack.

Mr. Michael Amadi, one of the community leaders in the area said the gunmen while ransacking the community said they don’t have rival and declared that the weapon with them was enough to contend with any military force.

Amadi said: “People were asked to go on their knee and declared that police and army cannot contend with their weapons, that was what we saw on Monday night. If you see the ammunitions with them you will think they are trained Nigeria solders.  

“As I’m talking to you now the residents of the community are running away to the neigbouring  community. With the robbery and maltreatment of the residents on Monday night nobody would like to experience that again.

The worst thing is that business in the area has been totally closed.”

When contacted the Rivers State Police  Spokesman, Mohammad Ahmad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) he said he was not aware of the attack in Aluu community.
