Barely couples of weeks apart, after a Medical Volunteer, was killed while in the custody of some kidnappers in Delta State, another expatriate, Jose Machada, a construction Engineer has died in the custody of his abductors in Kogi State.
The Portuguese National was said to have been abducted by some gun men along OIbajan-Kabba Road, near the state capital, while inspecting a road project being undertaken by his construction company.
Two Policemen who were described as his ”Security escorts”, were said to have been shot dead by the dare devil, who whisked him away at gun point for ransom in October.
In a statement by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, Machada died in his captors custody last week.
The statement reads; ”The ministry has received the “sad news of the death, in captivity, of a Portuguese, Mr Jose Machada, an expatriate who was kidnapped along Obajana-Kabba road in Kogi State,” .
Kidnapping, has become rampant in Nigeria and has become a scourge, with several states adopting the death penalty, in order to curb its wide spread in the past few months.
