As the Federal Government shops for the replacement of recently sacked ministers, a group under the aegis of Osun Youths for Good Governance (OYGG) has thrown its weight behind the candidature of Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) Chairman, Engineer Jide Adeniji, to take the place of Erelu Obada, former Minister of State for Defence.
Osun State is currently searching for a replacement for Obada in the Federal Executive Council.
Among those being speculated as nominees for the Osun state slot are FERMA boss, Engineer Adeniji; former House of Representatives member Hon. Wale Oke; Sen. Isiaka Adeleke, Alhaji Saheed Oyedokun, Alhaji Akin Bolade and Hon. Kunle Alao.
But the group, in a statement at the weekend in Abuja by its National Coordinator, Olumide Akande, said that the FERMA Chairman has all it takes to occupy the position.
The group said that though the FERMA boss has the blessing of the people and support of the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership, his long years in the civil service especially his performance in FERMA is an added advantage.
“Engineer Adeniji’s antecedents outweigh those of other nominees as it is believed that having being a career civil servant for decades and having performed very well in previous appointments and especially his recent performance as the Chairman of FERMA make him the man to beat,” the group said.
