A communal group in Rivers State, Obio/Akpor Peoples Forum has alleged plot to kill the Chief of Staff, Government House, Rivers State, Sir Tony Okocha.

The forum in a statement signed by its Secretary, Emeka Chukwu, said those opposed to Governor Rotimi Amaechi were scheming to take the life of the Obia/Akpor-born Sir Okocha if they fail to sway him from continued support for the governor.

The group views its fear for Okocha’s life as more worrisome because of the perception that security operatives treat, with levity, security reports concerning supporters of Governor Amaechi.

It regretted that it could not guarantee police protection for the governor’s loyalists, calling on Nigerians, particularly Rivers people to pray for its leaders, adding that the state was under siege from ambitious politicians who are bent on spilling innocent blood in their quest to clinch onto power.

“The mastermind of this plot have initiated several ploys to link the Chief of Staff to criminal activities intended to lower his political profile and support for Governor Amaechi, including linking him with alleged destruction of property owned by a pressure group loyal to Minister for Education, Nyesom Wike,” the group further alleged.
