Governor Wike To Shut Down Unapproved Private Schools in Rivers

The Rivers State governor, Chief  Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has threatened to shut down unapproved  private schools whose institution are yet to register with the Ministry of Education  by September 1, 2017.
 
The governor also warned proprietors who  he allegedly accused of  resorted to bribing top officials of the State Ministry of Education to have their schools re-certified without following due process to desist from illegal act.
 
 
In a statement signed by Simeon Nwakaudu,  the Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor, Electronic Media, the governor said All proprietors  involved in this illegality are doing so at their own risk.
 
 Governor wike said: “ All the school that are not registered with the government  will be officially  shut down on September 1, 2017 by the State Government. These proprietors have resorted to bribing top officials of the State Ministry of Education to have their schools re-certified without following due process.
 
“The governor warns the said proprietors of the unapproved schools to desist from bribing top officials of the State Ministry of Education,  as their criminal  acts of bribery will not lead to the re-certification of their schools.
 
 
“Only the Rivers State Governor has the authority to re-certify any of the illegal schools marked for closure by September 1, 2017.”
