Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the state belongs to all those who live and do business in it.
Speaking during a fund raising dinner for the Rivers State Golden Jubilee Celebration on Saturday in Port Harcourt, Governor Wike said the state will continue to play host to all well meaning Nigerians and expatriates7.
He urged all residents of the state to contribute to the development of the state as stakeholders .
The governor said contributions from all residents of the state during the Rivers State Golden Jubilee Celebration will make the celebration memorable.
He said: “Rivers State belongs to all of those who live in it, indigenes and non indigenes.
“This Golden Jubilee Celebration belongs to all Rivers people and all who do business in the state. Therefore, we must all join hands to make the state great”.
He explained that the purpose of the Fund Raising dinner will help the state generate funds for the celebration of its Golden Jubilee Celebration.
The fund raising was coordinated by the by seasoned banker and Managing Director of Access Bank, Mr Herbert Wigwe.
Herbert Wigwe assured all donors that their funds will be judiciously used for the Golden Jubilee celebration, with the balance properly channelled to worthy projects.
The event which attracted top politicians and business leaders witnessed the rich display of Rivers culture.
