German murdered by kidnappers in Kano

A German engineer, Edgar Raupach, was on Thursday murdered by his kidnappers during a raid on their hideout by the Joint Task Force.
The raid on the Danbare area of Kano followed an intelligence report that the German was being kept in a house in the neighbourhood.
As the soldiers advanced on the house, backed by a military helicopter hovering overhead, the kidnappers exchanged fire with them. They also swiftly killed their captive before they were gunned down by the soldiers.
The corpses of five suspected kidnappers of the German and that of their hostage were taken to a specialist hospital nearby.
One of the corpses was that of a woman.
The German was kidnapped by two gunmen around 8am on January 26 along Zaria – Kano Expressway where the head office of his employers, Dantata and Sawoe Construction, is located.
